Get the Beta of Aegis Retirement Planner. Free to download and use while it is in Beta — every feature, no charge and no license key.
Aegis Retirement Planner for Linux is available as a Snap package across all major distributions, or as a standalone Debian/Ubuntu (.deb) package.
Option 1: Snap Package
Install Aegis Retirement Planner directly from the Snap Store:
Or run the following command in your terminal:
To open statements, plans and reports on USB drives, also run this once:
The Snap updates itself automatically as new versions are published.
Option 2: Debian / Ubuntu (.deb)
1. Download the .deb package using the button above, then open your terminal.
2. Navigate to your Downloads folder:
3. Install the package using apt (recommended):
Note: using sudo apt install will automatically pull in any required system
dependencies. The package bundles its own Python environment.
The interview, the Ask Aegis assistant and statement import use a language model running on your own computer through Ollama. Install Ollama (see our Ollama setup guide), then pull the default model:
The default model runs on an 8 GB laptop without a GPU. On a slower machine choose
qwen2.5:3b in Settings; with a GPU, qwen2.5:14b follows the interview
more reliably. The app checks Ollama on first start and explains anything that is
missing.
Ollama is optional: the forms, budget, buckets and simulations all work without it.
Launch Aegis Retirement Planner from your applications menu (Office → Finance) and start the interview. See the documentation for the budget, buckets, simulations and statement import.
Your plans are stored in ~/.aegisretirementplanner/ (with the Snap:
~/snap/aegisretirementplanner/current/.aegisretirementplanner/) and are kept when the package
is removed or updated.
The Beta is Linux-only for now.
